Missing Man Found

UPDATE 8/13/23: Mr. Best has been safely located.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in finding a missing man. He is identified as 54-year-old Marvin Best. He was last seen in the 12300 block of Annapolis Road at approximately 6:30 pm on July 24, 2023.

Mr. Best is a black male, 5’9” tall and 170 pounds. 

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Bowie, Division II Investigative Section at 301-390-2160.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in Capitol Heights

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Saturday evening. The victim is 37-year-old Demetric Martin of Oxon Hill.  

On July 22, 2023, at approximately 5:30 pm, officers responded to a hotel at 55 Hampton Park Boulevard in Capitol Heights for a shooting. Martin was located outside suffering from a gunshot wound(s). He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.  

Investigators are working to determine the circumstances of this shooting and identify the suspect(s).

Suspects in Custody in Connection With Fatal Stabbing

Update August 7, 2023: Poston has been located and is now in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and charged a man in connection with a fatal stabbing earlier this month in the city of Seat Pleasant. The suspect is 37-year-old Jesse Culley of Capitol Heights. An arrest warrant has been obtained for the second suspect, 21-year-old Raykia Poston of Capitol Heights. The victim in this case is 62-year-old Mervyn Daniel of Capitol Heights.  The suspects and victim lived in the same residence.

 

On July 8, 2023, at approximately 4:20 pm, patrol officers with the Seat Pleasant Police Department and Prince George’s County Police Department were called to 5900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway for a stabbing. Once on scene, officers discovered Daniel unresponsive inside of a restaurant suffering from a stab wound(s). The victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.  

 

Through their investigation, detectives identified both suspects. Poston is charged with first degree murder and related charges for stabbing the victim. Culley is charged with accessory after the fact. The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was stabbed during a dispute.

 

Culley is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision Involving Bicyclist

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a bicyclist in the unincorporated section of Upper Marlboro. The deceased bicyclist is 43-year-old Gregory McCullom of Upper Marlboro. 

On July 23, 2023, at approximately 7:50 pm, officers responded to the area of Williams Beanes Road and Federal Court. 

The preliminary investigation revealed the involved driver was traveling southbound on Williams Beanes Road when he struck McCullom who was also traveling southbound on Williams Beans Road on his bicycle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
