The Prince George’s County Police Department will host its
third “Gift Cards for Guns” event this Saturday. In an effort to further
reduce gun violence in Prince George’s County, the PGPD will accept guns from
citizens who voluntarily surrender them. The firearms do not need to be
functional. In return, citizens will receive a gift card valued up to
$100. The PGPD is proudly partnering with the NAACP and the Prince George’s
County Youth Strategies Division in this effort. Participating citizens
should place all firearms, unloaded, in the trunk of their cars. A uniformed
police officer will greet them at the door and provide further directions.
Unwanted ammunition may be submitted as well. This is the third “Gift Cards for
Guns” event of the year. So far, approximately 300 guns have been turned in.

I woiuld like your readers to know that this event is the third event of 2013 and that the Prince George's County Branch of the NAACP has been in partnership with the Prince George's County Police Department in coordiinating the efforts to get these guns off our streets.
Great idea! Thanks PGPD for making us safer!
When is the next one?
Can non-county residents take advantage of the offer to get guns off the streets? I live in an adjacent county [Anne Arundel] - 2 miles from Laurel...?
