PGPD Investigates Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Chillum

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Chillum. The victim is 16-year-old Keyri Alfaro-Guevara of 24th Avenue in Hyattsville.

On May 4, 2016, at about 9:50 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of East-West Highway at 23rd Avenue for a collision involving a pedestrian. When they arrived, the officers found the victim suffering from critical injuries. She was taken to a hospital where she died on May 23rd.

The preliminary investigation reveals a car heading eastbound on East-West Highway struck Alfaro-Guevara as she tried to cross the street. Preliminarily, it appears she was in a crosswalk at the time but was crossing against the pedestrian crossing signal. The driver of the car remained on the scene. She was not hurt.
