Detectives Arrest Suspect in Landover Homicide

The Homicide Unit arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide in Landover. The suspect is 45-year-old Jimmy Belton of the 2300 block of Kent Village Drive in Landover. He’s charged with the fatal assault of 50-year-old Dwayne Crawford of Kent Town Drive in Landover. The victim and suspect were acquaintances.

On November 11th, at about 11:30 am, patrol officers were called to the 6900 block of Kent Town Drive to check on the welfare of a man found unresponsive in his home. Crawford was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect assaulted the victim in the home earlier that morning. An autopsy revealed the victim’s cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

Belton is charged with second degree murder, manslaughter and assault. He’s in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
