Suspect in Suitland Homicide in Custody

Charles Romain

A suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting Tuesday in Suitland is in custody. The suspect is 24-year-old Charles Romain of Madison Street in Alexandria. He’s charged with the fatal shooting of 29-year-old Lafeal Sinclair of Maryland Avenue in the District.

On March 7th, at about 2:10 pm, patrol officers responded to the 3900 block of Suitland Road for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, they discovered the victim outside in a parking lot suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Preliminarily, the motive appears to be a drug-related robbery.

Romain was arrested last night in Alexandria by officers with the Alexandria Police Department and the Alexandria Sheriff. Romain is charged with first and second degree murder.  He is in Alexandria awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County.
