PGPD Investigating Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Landover


The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Landover. The victim is 27-year-old Justin Mitchell of 59th Avenue in Riverdale.

On Saturday, August 4th, at approximately 10:50 pm, patrol officers responded to the intersection of Landover Road and Brightseat Road for a report of a pedestrian collision.

The preliminary investigation reveals the victim was crossing Landover Road at the intersection of Brightseat Road when he was struck by a car. He died a short time later at a hospital. Investigators are working to determine who had the right of way and whether the victim was in a crosswalk at the time. The involved driver remained on the scene. He was not hurt.
