The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and charged a suspect in connection with a 2023 fatal stabbing in the city of Hyattsville. The suspect is 67-year-old Kevin Warbington of no fixed address. He’s charged with the murder of 33-year-old Avrell Milam of no fixed address.
On August 30, 2023, at approximately 2:55 am, officers with the Hyattsville Police Department responded to the 2900 block of Belcrest Center Drive for the report of an unresponsive person. Officers located the victim outside suffering from trauma. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The PGPD’s Homicide Unit was notified and assumed the investigation.
Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified Warbington as the suspect. A warrant for his arrest was obtained in early September of 2026.
The PGPD’s Fugitive Unit, which is part of the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, located and arrested the suspect in Washington, DC, where he remains pending extradition to Prince George’s County.
The suspect is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. At this time, there is no known link between the suspect and victim. The motive remains under investigation.
The PGPD investigates all homicides in the city of Hyattsville.
