Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit (CARU) is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Riverdale, Maryland earlier this morning.
At approximately 4:56 a.m., Patrol Officers responded to the intersection of Riverdale Road and 63rd Place for a call of a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and an unknown vehicle. Upon arrival, Patrol Officers found Delavan Lamont Beam, 31, suffering from trauma consistent with a vehicle collision. Prince George’s County Fire and EMS personnel transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
Preliminary investigation revealed Beam, of the 2200 block of Prince of Wales Court in Bowie, was traveling on a motorcycle in the westbound lane of Riverdale Road approaching 63rd Place. The unknown vehicle, which was traveling southbound on 63rd Place, attempted to make a left turn without yielding the right of way to Beam. The unknown vehicle struck Beam and fled the scene without stopping and rendering assistance. The unknown vehicle is described as a Lincoln Navigator with damage to its left rear and may be missing the tail assembly in that area.
CARU investigators are seeking information regarding the striking vehicle or information from anyone who may have witnessed or been in the area at the time of the collision.
