Prince George’s County Maryland…Prince George’s County Interim Police Chief Mark A. Magaw is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Julie Parker as Director of the Public Affairs Division for the Prince George’s County Police Department. On June 27, 2011, Mrs. Parker will officially begin serving as Director and will oversee the Department’s internal and external communications, including relations with news media, community relations, and other communications support.
Mrs. Parker is a graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park and joins the Department following a thirteen year career with News Channel 8 and WJLA ABC 7, where she earned a reputation as a tenacious general assignment reporter and anchor covering news affecting Prince George’s, Montgomery, Frederick, and Washington Counties. In recognition for her work, she has received a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award, an Associated Press Award, and an Emmy.
“The Department looks forward to having the benefit of the skill and dedication that Mrs. Parker has exhibited throughout her career,” said Interim Police Chief Mark Magaw.
