Arrest in Murder of Shavon Phillips

Prince George’s County Police made an arrest in the murder of 22-year-old Shavon Phillips of Washington D.C.  Her body was found in a bag in a Fort Washington creek on August 1, 2012.  Patrol officers responded to the 12200 block of Braemer Circle after a citizen reported seeing a suspicious object floating in the creek.  Responding officers opened the bag and found the decomposed remains of the victim.  On August 6^th, the Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the remains as Shavon Phillips.  On August 14^th, her death was ruled a homicide.

On September 7^th, 2012, PGPD arrested 31-year-old Joseph Jones of the 6900 block of Mountain Lake Place in Capitol Heights.  PGPD will provide details of the case and arrest this evening in a press conference.
