Prince George’s County Police made an arrest in 
the murder of 22-year-old Shavon Phillips of Washington D.C.  Her body 
was found in a bag in a Fort Washington creek on August 1, 2012.  Patrol
 officers responded to the 12200 block of
 Braemer Circle after a citizen reported seeing a suspicious object 
floating in the creek.  Responding officers opened the bag and found the
 decomposed remains of the victim.  On August 6th, the Medical Examiner’s Office positively identified the
 remains as Shavon Phillips.  On August 14th, her death was ruled a homicide.
On September 7th, 2012, PGPD arrested 
31-year-old Joseph Jones of the 6900 block of Mountain Lake Place in 
Capitol Heights.  PGPD will provide details of the case and arrest 
this evening in a press conference.
