Detectives
have identified the high school student who posted the online threat which
prompted additional resources at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt
this morning. After a thorough investigation, that threat has been deemed
non-credible.
The
Prince George’s County Police Department was first alerted to the threat Sunday
evening and investigated throughout the night.
“Although
this threat wasn’t credible, this department takes all such threats seriously
and works aggressively to identify the sender. We urge all citizens, both young
and old, to please think before sending such posts. While the sender may not
have a criminal intent behind the post, this department, the school system and
this community take them seriously,” said Deputy Chief Raphael Grant, Bureau of
Administration & Homeland Security.
During
an interview, the student indicated the photographed weapon is a BB gun.
