PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in Capitol Heights

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Capitol Heights on Wednesday. Investigators are working to identify the victim in order to notify his family. The victim is an adult Hispanic male.
 
On December 12th, at approximately 6:55 pm, patrol officers were called to the 7700 block of Central Avenue for a collision involving a minivan and a car.

The preliminary investigation reveals both involved vehicles were in the westbound lanes of Central Avenue. For reasons that remain under investigation, the minivan struck the back of a car that was attempting to make a U-turn to go eastbound on Central Avenue. The minivan ultimately overturned. The minivan’s driver declined medical treatment. The van’s single passenger suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the struck car suffered serious injuries.
