PGPD Investigating Double Fatal Crash in New Carrollton

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating the circumstances of a double fatal crash this weekend in New Carrollton. The deceased driver is 18-year-old Kevin Escamilla Escalante of Capitol Heights. A passenger in his car also died. She is identified as 16-year-old Kaylin Ramirez of the Woodlawn area.

On May 23, 2021, at approximately 1:45 am, patrol officers responded to the 7500 block of Annapolis Road for a single-car collision. The two victims were pronounced dead on the scene. A third occupant suffered what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed the car was heading westbound on Annapolis Road. After passing through the intersection of Veterans Parkway, for reasons that are under investigation, the driver appears to have lost control of his car and ultimately struck a tree.
