The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that happened Thursday in the unincorporated section of Capitol Heights. The deceased driver is 82-year-old William Herbert Wells of Capitol Heights.
On June 17, 2021, at approximately 3:15 pm, officers responded to the 400 block of Ritchie Road for a collision involving two vehicles.
The preliminary
investigation revealed a pickup truck was travelling southbound on
Ritchie Road. Wells, who was driving a minivan, was
attempting to make a left turn onto Ritchie Road from Old Ritchie Road and
collided with the pickup truck. Wells was
pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of
the pickup truck was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening
injuries.
