Homicide Unit detectives arrested and charged a man in connection with the fatal shooting of his wife. The suspect is 37-year-old Orville-Dean Fairweather. The victim is 34-year-old Jolesia Fairweather of Hyattsville.
On August 21, 2022, at approximately 7:50 am, officers responded to a shooting at the suspect’s home on Maryland Park Drive in the unincorporated section of Capitol Heights. Once on scene, officers located the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital.
The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect shot the victim during a dispute.
Fairweather is charged with first and second degree murder and additional charges. The suspect is in the custody of Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
