The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is working to identify and arrest the suspect(s) who killed a man Sunday evening. The victim is 18-year-old Michael Cooper of Washington, DC. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
On April 14, 2024, at approximately 6:45 pm, officers with the Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Seat Pleasant Police and PGPD responded to a park in the 800 block of Birchleaf Avenue for a shooting. Once on scene, they located Cooper suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and a motive.
The PGPD investigates all homicides that occur in the jurisdiction of Maryland-National Capital Park Police.
