PGPD Charges Elected Official with Traffic Offenses

The Prince George’s County Police Department has charged an elected official with several traffic offenses. She is identified as 60-year-old Elaine Scott Williams of Altoona Street in Capitol Heights. She is a councilwoman in the town of Capitol Heights.

On January 2, 2015, at about 10:20 pm, a patrol officer stopped Williams in the 100 block of Capitol Heights Boulevard for a minor traffic violation. During the stop, the officer discovered Williams was driving on a suspended license. Further investigation revealed Williams was also wanted through the Maryland Transportation Authority for failing to appear on a previous traffic violation. Williams was arrested and transported to the Department of Corrections, where she was released on her own recognizance.
