PGPD Makes Arrest in Suitland Murder


Updated January 23, 2015: A second suspect is now in custody in connection with this homicide. He’s 20-year-old Davonte Denzel McKissick of the 400 block of Mellon Street in Southeast Washington. Officers arrested McKissick last night in the District. He’s currently in custody in DC awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County. He’s charged with first degree murder

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of 20-year-old Jamal Allen of Suitland. The suspect is 19-year-old Jawaun Anthony Nelson of the 6100 block of Hil Mar Drive in District Heights.
On January 11, 2015, at about 5:35 pm, patrol officers were called to the 2700 block of Sweetwater Court for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Allen inside a car suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Detectives do not believe this was a random act.

Nelson was arrested last night in the District. He’s currently in custody in DC awaiting extradition to Prince George’s County. He is charged with first degree murder.
