Quick Arrest in Croom Homicide

                                                            Lemuel Alonzo Brown, Jr

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit made a quick arrest in Sunday’s homicide in Croom. The suspect is 25-year-old Lemuel Alonzo Brown, Jr. of the 200 block of Polling House Road in Harwood, MD.

On January 18, 2015, just before 3:00 am, patrol officers were called to the 7000 block of Crain Highway for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, patrol officers found 31-year-old James Ryan Burch of Harwood, MD, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The victim and suspect were acquaintances. The preliminary investigation suggests the two men got into an argument that escalated into the fatal shooting.

Homicide detectives quickly identified Brown as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant charging him with first degree murder. Brown turned himself into authorities in a neighboring jurisdiction. Brown is currently in custody at the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections on a no bond status.
