At approximately 9:46 a.m., a citizen made contact with an off-duty Prince George’s County Police Officer at the Vista Gardens Marketplace located in the 10400 block of Martin Luther King Highway in reference to a stabbing near the Target store. The off-duty officer and responding patrol officers located a 39 year old female in the Target parking lot suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Officers quickly located Antoinette Starks near the Home Depot parking lot still holding the knives she had used to stab the victim. Verbal commands were given to the suspect to drop the knives during which time she proceeded to continue walking through the parking lot. Patrol officers subdued Starks by deploying a Taser and immediately taking her into custody. The female victim was transported to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.
The preliminary investigation revealed Antoinette Starks took the knives from a Shoppers Food Warehouse nearby and later attacked the female victim as she was loading items into her vehicle in the Target parking lot.
