Prince George's County, Maryland... The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating the report of two sexual assaults in the 4700 block of Silver Hill Road in Suitland, Maryland during the past two weeks. In both incidents, female victims were assaulted during the early morning hours while walking to the Suitland Metro Station.
The first incident occurred on September 27, 2011, at approximately 5:30 a.m., when a female victim was approached by a suspect who displayed a handgun and grabbed the victim’s arm. The victim was then led across the street by the suspect, to the rear of an abandoned building, and sexually assaulted. The suspect fled the area on foot after the assault.
The second incident occurred on October 4, 2011, at approximately 6:45 a.m., when a suspect displaying a handgun approached a female victim and attempted to pull her across the street. After a short struggle, the victim was able to escape her attacker and flee to safety. The suspect then fled the area on foot. Police are working to determine if the two attacks are connected.
The suspect in both incidents is described as a black male with a dark brown complexion, approximately 25-30 years old. He is approximately 5’5”-5’6” tall with a close haircut and light facial hair. In the first incident, the suspect was wearing a black jacket, a black and white striped shirt, and acid washed blue jeans with faded brown patches on the front. In the second incident, the suspect was wearing a black jacket and black pants. The suspect was armed with a black handgun during both incidents.
Police ask that citizens report any suspicious activity that may have been observed in the area. Police also encourage citizens to be mindful of their surroundings, always walk in well lit areas, and walk in groups whenever possible.
