The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Greenbelt. The victim is 43-year-old Derrick Gordon of Fort Lincoln Drive in Northeast Washington.
On September 27th, at approximately 9:05 am, patrol officers were called to Greenbelt Road and Kenilworth Avenue for a fatal collision involving multiple vehicles.
The preliminary investigation reveals Gordon was heading westbound on Greenbelt Road approaching Kenilworth Avenue, when for reasons that remain under investigation, his car struck another car in the rear and then struck a bus. Two additional vehicles were then involved in chain-reaction collisions. Gordon was pronounced dead on the scene. Several additional drivers and passengers involved in this incident were injured. Preliminarily, none of their injuries appears life-threatening.
