Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a man in Adelphi this morning. The victim is 20-year-old Merlin Ramirez-Lara of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random crime.
On April 9th, at approximately 6:15 am, patrol officers responded to the 8600 block of 20th Avenue for a welfare check. The victim was discovered outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and determine a motive.
