Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Palmer Park Under Investigation

The department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that took place in early July in Palmer Park. The deceased pedestrian is 53-year-old Jackie Monroe of Hyattsville.  

On July 5, 2022, at approximately 10:40 pm, patrol officers were called to the 8000 block of Barlowe Road for a collision involving a pedestrian. Once on scene, they discovered Monroe in the roadway. Monroe was taken to a hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries on July 9^th. 

The preliminary investigation revealed, Monroe was in the roadway, attempting to cross the street, when he was struck by a car heading westbound on Barlowe Road. Monroe was not in a crosswalk at the time. The driver remained on the scene following the collision.
