Detectives with our Homicide Unit
are actively
investigating a fatal shooting in Lanham that occurred on Wednesday night. The
victim is 28-year-old Anthony Freeland of Minnesota
Avenue in Southeast Washington. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for
information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Tipsters will
never have to give their name.
Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random crime.
On October 3rd, at approximately 9:35 pm, patrol officers were called to the 6500 block of Manton Way in Lanham for a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Freeland outside on a sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and a motive.
