PGPD Arrests Suspect in Connection With March Homicide

Homicide Unit detectives arrested a suspect in connection with a homicide investigation from March. The suspect is 22-year-old Jose Landeverde of Greenbelt. He is charged with the murder of 22-year-old Hector Diaz-Urritia of no fixed address.  

On March 14th, at approximately 1:30 pm, a citizen walking near Lake Artemesia in Berwyn Heights notified police after discovering a body. The victim was located suffering from trauma to his upper body and pronounced dead on the scene. 

The preliminary investigation reveals both the suspect and victim are members of a gang. The motive in the murder is gang-related.

Landeverde is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
