PGPD Investigates Fatal Collision in Beltsville

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Beltsville in the early morning hours of Friday, July 5th.  23-year-old Nina Carbone, whose address is unknown, died as a result of injuries suffered in the collision.

Preliminarily, at approximately 2:05 am, patrol officers were called to the area of Powder Mill Road at Beltsville Drive in Beltsville for a fatal collision involving 3 vehicles. Investigators have so far determined the driver of a Toyota Yaris carrying three passengers was traveling  eastbound along Powder Mill Road at Beltsville Drive when, for reasons that remain under investigation, the Yaris struck a SUV in the rear and then struck a second SUV before coming to final rest.  The driver of the Yaris and all three passengers including Carbone were rushed to area hospitals in critical condition with the driver and Carbone suffering from life threatening injuries.  Despite all medical efforts, Carbone was pronounced dead a few hours later.  Investigators are working to identify the name of the driver of the Yaris.

The drivers and passengers in the two SUVS that were separately struck by the Yaris did not suffer life threatening injuries.
