Detectives Charge Suspect in Connection with Temple Hills Murder

Detectives with our Homicide Unit have arrested and charged a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Temple Hills in September. The suspect is 26-year-old Derrick Edwards of Temple Hills. He is charged with the murder of 23-year-old Davon Graves of Suitland.

On September 26, 2021, at approximately 7:00 pm, patrol officers responded to the 4500 block of St. Barnabas Road for the report of a shooting. Once on scene, officers located Graves unresponsive in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.  

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim and suspect had been in an argument prior to the shooting. Edwards is charged with first- and second-degree murder, and other related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections. A court commissioner ordered him held on a no-bond status.

Detectives Acusan a Sospechoso en Conexión a Asesinato en Temple Hills

Detectives de nuestra Unidad de Homicidios arrestaron y acusaron a un sospechoso en conexión a un mortal tiroteo que se suscitó en Temple Hills durante el mes de septiembre. El sospechoso fue identificado como Derrick Edwards, de 26 años y vecino de Temple Hills. A este se le imputa el asesinato de Davon Graves, de 23 años y vecino de Suitland.

El 26 de septiembre de 2021, a eso de las 7:00 pm, oficiales de patrulla acudieron a la cuadra 4500 de St. Barnabas Road tras recibir información sobre un tiroteo. Al llegar a la escena, los oficiales hallaron a Graves inconsciente y con una herida de bala, dentro de en un área de estacionamiento. A este le declararon muerto en la escena.

La investigación preliminar reveló que la víctima y el sospechoso habían tenido un argumento previo al tiroteo. Edwards enfrenta cargos por asesinato en primer y segundo grado, entre otros. Este se encuentra bajo la custodia del Departamento de Corrección. Un comisionado del tribunal ordenó a que se le retuviera sin derecho a fianza.
