PGPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in Town of University Park

 The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon in the Town of University Park. The victim is 19-year-old Luis Miguel Utrera of Hyattsville.

On November 17, 2021, at approximately 2:35 pm, officers from the University Park Police Department responded to the 4000 block of Underwood Street for the report of a shooting and vehicle crash. Officers located the unresponsive victim in the driver seat of a car which had struck a tree.  The victim was discovered suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and a motive in this case.

PGPD Investiga Mortal Tiroteo en Poblado de University Park

La Unidad de Homicidios del Departamento de la Policía del Condado de Prince George’s investiga un mortal tiroteo que se produjo el miércoles en la tarde en el poblado de University Park. La víctima fue identificada como Luis Miguel Utrera, de 19 años y vecino de Hyattsville.

El 17 de noviembre de 2021, a eso de las 2:35 pm, oficiales del Departamento de la Policía de University Park acudieron a la cuadra 4000 de Underwood Street tras recibir información sobre un tiroteo y choque vehicular. Los oficiales hallaron a la víctima inconsciente en el lado del conductor de un vehículo que había impactado un árbol. Descubrieron que este había recibido un balazo en la parte superior del cuerpo y le declararon muerto en la escena.

Nuestros detectives buscan determinar cuál fue el motivo e identificar a un sospechoso(s) en este caso.
