PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision that occurred in the unincorporated section of Laurel on Saturday. The deceased driver is 23-year-old Justin Xavier Smith of Upper Marlboro.

On June 1, 2024, at approximately 7:15 pm, officers responded to a collision in the 11000 block of Laurel Bowie Road for a collision involving four vehicles. Smith was pronounced deceased on the scene. A passenger in a second car is in critical condition. The driver and passengers from the third vehicle were hospitalized with injuries considered non life-threatening. All occupants in the fourth vehicle were uninjured.

The preliminary investigation revealed Smith and the driver of a second car were travelling southbound on Laurel Bowie Road. For reasons now under investigation, Smith crossed the double yellow line into the northbound lanes, struck a guardrail, before ultimately colliding with a northbound vehicle. At the same time, the second southbound vehicle lost control, left the roadway and struck a tree.  Debris from Smith’s car also struck another vehicle.

La Unidad de Análisis y Reconstrucción de Colisiones del Departamento de Policía del Condado Prince George´s está investigando una colisión fatal que ocurrió en la sección no incorporada de Laurel el sábado. El conductor fallecido es Justin Xavier Smith, de 23 años, de Upper Marlboro.

El 1 de junio de 2024, aproximadamente a las 7:15 p.m., los oficiales respondieron a la cuadra 11000 de Laurel Bowie Road por una colisión que involucró a cuatro vehículos. Smith fue declarado fallecido en el lugar. Un pasajero de un segundo vehículo se encuentra en estado crítico.
