Prince George’s County, Maryland… Between August 26th and September 5th, members of the Prince George’s County Police Department competed in the 2011 World Police and Fire Games hosted by New York City. Over 17,000 athletes registered from more than 60 countries to compete in this year’s games.
Major Christopher Cotillo, Commander of District II, competed in the Bench Press and Push/Pull events where he won Gold Medals for both events, breaking two World Records in the process.
Special Operations Division, Canine Section, participated in the Police Service Dogs category which consisted of Patrol, Narcotics Detection and Explosives Detection events. Four teams of partners competed in the games; Corporal Nicholas Cicale with K9 partner Zoey, Corporal Jeffery Walden with K9 partner Max, Corporal Michael Amorino with K9 partners Rocco and Bo, and Police Officer First Class Scott Allen with K9 partner Rambo. Corporal Cicale and his partner Zoey placed 3rd, receiving the Bronze in Explosive Detection.
