The Prince George’s County Police Department’s District VI Robbery Suppression Team is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an individual who is considered a person of interest in connection with a citizen armed robbery that occurred on January 27, 2012, at approximately 12:50 p.m., in Beltsville, Maryland.   This individual is described as being between 6’00” and 6’02” and approximately 190lbs.   If anyone has any information as to the identity of this person please contact Det.  UPDATE:  The critical missing teenager, Kendra Michelle Armstrong, was located today in Montgomery County at approximately 5:00 a.m., this morning.  She was found in good health and returned home.

Kendra Michelle Armstrong is a black female with a light complexion.  She is approximately 5’2” and weighs approximately 110 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.  She was last seen wearing a white shirt and tan pants.

(UPDATE) Body Found in Well in Fort Washington Has Been Identified

The Prince George’s County Police Department identified the body extracted from the well as 53 year-old Lenwood “Lenny” Harris of Alexandria, Virginia.  The case has been ruled a homicide.  A joint news conference with the Alexandria Police Department has been scheduled at the Prince George’s County Police Department Headquarters, multi-purpose room on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.  Chief Mark Magaw and Chief Earl Cook will address the media regarding the events of the ongoing investigation. PGPD Co-Hosts Male Youth Enrichment Summit with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

     Prince George’s County, Maryland… The Prince George’s County Police Department, in partnership with the Prince George’s County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the Bowie/Mitchellville Alumni (BMAC) Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, will host its first annual EMBODI (Empowering Males to Build Opportunities to Develop Independence) summit for its high school members on Saturday, January 28, 2012.


     The summit will provide 32 teenaged EMBODI members with opportunities to receive information on academic success, college preparation and money management among other topics. Guest speakers will include the Honorable Glenn Ivey, retired Prince George’s County State’s Attorney, and Dr. Donald Shell, Maryland Interim Director of the State’s Center for Health Promotion. (UPDATE) Police Obtain Warrant in Robbery of Elderly Woman

UPDATE: The Prince George’s County Police Department announces the arrest of Linda McCorkle. McCorkle was arrested yesterday in the Harlem section of New York by the United States Marshal Service.


     Prince George’s County Maryland… The Prince George’s County Police Department’s District I Investigative Section is investigating the citizen robbery of an 84 year-old woman in Langley Park, Maryland.

     On January 12, 2012, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the victim was approached in the 6500 block of New Hampshire Avenue by the suspect, later identified as 48 year-old Linda McCorkle, of the 1500 block of Chillum Road, Chillum. McCorkle, who had three small children with her, told the victim that she needed the victim’s help to cash a check to care for the children. The victim agreed to drive McCorkle to the Bank of America in the 7900 block of New Hampshire Avenue. Before getting into the victim’s car, a second female suspect approached and took custody of the children.

     Once at the Bank of America, McCorkle implied that she had a handgun and would shoot the victim if she did not withdraw a large sum of money from her account. Fearing for her life, the victim went to a teller and withdrew a large sum of money which McCorkle then took from the victim. McCorkle then forced the victim to drive her back to the 6500 block of New Hampshire Avenue where she was last seen walking away on foot.

     Investigators were able to develop McCorkle as the suspect through a Crime Solvers anonymous tip and surveillance video provided by the Bank of America. A warrant was obtained for McCorkle for armed robbery and second degree assault.

Suspect Wanted in Police-Involved Shooting in Temple Hills Located

UPDATE: Prince George’s County Police Detectives have arrested 30 year-old Joseph Andoh Quarm.  Quarm was arrested earlier this morning in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, without incident on warrants charging him with Assault and Attempt to Disarm a Police Officer.  The involved officer, six-year veteran Police Officer First Class Ebony Richardson, assigned to the Bureau of Patrol, District IV, is on administrative leave in accordance with departmental policy.

Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Special Investigation Response Team (SIRT) is investigating a police-involved shooting that occurred this morning in Temple Hills, Maryland.

After a female dialed 911, two patrol officers were dispatched to a domestic violence dispute in progress along the 2600 block of Keating Street in Temple Hills at approximately 4:00 a.m.  Upon their arrival, the patrol officers observed 30 year-old Joseph Andoh Quarm, attempting to leave the residence.  As the patrol officers attempted to question him, Quarm threw a punch at one of the patrol officers and fled on foot towards his nearby parked motor vehicle. 

An apprehension effort ensued as Quarm continued to resist arrest.  Pepper spray and an electronic control device (Taser) were deployed as Quarm attempted to disarm one of the patrol officers of his holstered firearm.  Fearing for her partner’s life, the other on-scene patrol officer discharged her firearm at the suspect.  Quarm made good his escape in his motor vehicle.  The vehicle has since been recovered.

Police Investigate Domestic Homicide/Suicide on Bramble Court

Prince George’s County, Maryland… The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a Murder/Suicide that occurred yesterday evening in Laurel, Maryland.  

On January 22, 2012, at approximately 7:00 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 14100 block of Bramble Court for report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, officers entered the apartment and found 19 year-old Aeris Lashay Beard, of the 11200 block of Basswood Terrace in Laurel, and 21 year-old Adam Clayton Owsley II, of the 14100 block of Bramble Court in Laurel, suffering from gunshot wounds.  Both persons were pronounced dead on the scene.

            The investigation revealed that Beard and Owsley had been involved in a relationship for approximately three years.  Additionally it was determined that Owsley shot Beard before taking his own life.

Police Help Reunite Dog with Owners

Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s District III Investigative Section reunites dog with his owners.

On January 20, 2012, at approximately 10:00 a.m., detectives received a call from the victim who said he was contacted by a “Good Samaritan” that said they found their dog, Cody.  Detectives met with the victim and the “Good Samaritan” at a neutral location where Cody was reunited with his family.

On December 12, 2011, the victim left his dog inside of his vehicle in the 6500 block of Sheriff Road.  When the victim returned to his vehicle, he found it had been stolen with the dog still inside.  The vehicle was recovered a short time later at a nearby location, but without the dog.  The investigation into the theft of the vehicle is still ongoing.

Suspect Wanted for Commercial Burglary of Queens Chapel Liquors in Hyattsville

The Prince George's County Police Department's District I Investigative Section is investigating a commercial burglary that occurred on December 21, 2011, at 3120 Queens Chapel Road in Hyattsville, Maryland. Investigators are seeking to identify the suspect in the above surveillance photograph along with another individual. The suspects broke into the establishment through the roof and stole merchandise and funds from the office and store while causing several hundred dollars in damage to the property.

Police Seek Assistance in Locating Critical Missing Male (George Willie Bellamy)

Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a critical missing person identified as 64 year-old George Willie Bellamy. He was last seen talking to an individual in a vehicle in front of his residence in the 5300 block of Vienna Drive in Clinton, Maryland, on January 7, 2012, at approximately 10:00 p.m. and has not been seen or heard from since.

George Bellamy is a black male with black hair and brown eyes around 5’7” tall and weighing approximately 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing green pants, a cream colored hooded sweatshirt, and black shoes. George Bellamy suffers from dementia and is in need of his medication. He is known to frequent the Georgia Avenue area in Washington, DC.

PGPD Announces Results of Joint “Operation SOLO” and Sobriety Checkpoint Initiatives

Prince George’s County, Maryland… The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Special Operations Division and Traffic Enforcement Unit, along with the Maryland State Police, have announced the results of the joint Operation SOLO and Sobriety Checkpoint traffic safety initiatives conducted over the course of the past three months which focused on reducing the number of driving under the influence (DUI) incidents associated with critical injury and fatal vehicle collisions.

From November 11^th, 2011 through January 14^th, 2012, Operation SOLO culminated in 20 DUI arrests, six felony arrests, 17 misdemeanor arrests, 37 warrants served, 731 traffic citations, 231 equipment repair orders, and 375 citation warnings being issued.  Along with the arrests and citations issued, officers recovered one handgun and one knife as well as 12.7 grams of crack cocaine and 39.1 grams of marijuana.

The sobriety checkpoints resulted in nine driving under the influence arrests, two possession of controlled dangerous substance arrests, one open warrant arrest, one open alcohol container citation, and one child safety seat violation citation.

"This is an excellent example of what our collaborative efforts with our partners, the Maryland State Police, can achieve to make Prince George’s County safer," stated Chief Mark A. Magaw.

            "I appreciate the partnership and support of the Prince George's County Police Department as we conduct cooperative traffic and criminal enforcement initiatives," Colonel Marcus L. Brown, Superintendent of the Maryland State Police said.  "Recent Operation SOLO patrols and sobriety checkpoints removed not only drunk drivers from the road, but also led to the arrests of wanted felons and fugitives.  These and other coordinated efforts will continue as we work together to make Maryland safer." 

The Prince George’s County Police Department will continue its efforts to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians throughout the year through educational awareness and future traffic safety and sobriety checkpoint initiatives.

Police Release New Information in Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision in Oxon Hill

UPDATE: CARU investigators believe the striking vehicle is possibly a dark colored Chevrolet Cavalier or Geo Prism with damage to the grill or headlight portion of the vehicle. Investigators are seeking information on the whereabouts of the striking vehicle and driver.

Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit (CARU) is continuing its investigation into a fatal hit and run pedestrian collision that resulted in the deaths of a man and woman in Oxon Hill, Maryland two weeks ago.

On January 6, 2012, at approximately 6:59 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 6200 block of Oxon Hill Road, for a call of a pedestrian struck. Upon arrival, patrol officers found 55 year-old Michael Jerome Thomas, Sr. and 62 year-old Mildred Caroline Freeman, both of the 6500 block of Bock Terrace in Oxon Hill, suffering from trauma consistent with a vehicle collision. They were transported to a local hospital where Michael Thomas was pronounced deceased late that night. Mildred Freeman succumbed to her injuries the following morning.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victims were standing in the center turn lane when the unknown vehicle, traveling eastbound on Oxon Hill Road, struck them and fled the scene.

Police Arrest Suspect in Multiple Commercial Burglaries

The Prince George's County Police Department's District VI Investigative Section has arrested 22 year-old Edwin Hall-El in connection with multiple commercial burglaries that occurred between December 2011 through January 2012, throughout the northern section of the County.

Detectives developed Hall-El as a suspect during the course of their investigation.  He was arrested on January 17, 2012, and charged with 9 counts of 2nd degree burglary.  Hall-El was remanded to the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

Media Availability - PGPD Investigates Citizen Armed Robbery of Elderly Woman

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s District I Investigative Section is investigating a citizen armed robbery where the victim, an 84 year-old woman, was robbed in the 7900 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Langley Park, Maryland.  The investigation revealed that the female suspect led the victim to believe she was helping her, and several small children, in a time of need.  The suspect then implied she had a gun and ordered the victim to withdraw a large sum from the bank. Investigators are actively searching for the suspect.  Members of the media are invited to speak to the victim and detectives.  The victim's identity MUST be concealed.  Surveillance video and still shots will be provided on site.

Police Make Arrest in Doewood Lane Homicide

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has arrested 28 year-old Jamik Mathew Sumby in connection with the murder of Perry Earl Hunt which occurred last week in Capitol Heights, Maryland.

Homicide detectives developed Sumby, of the 5100 block of North Englewood Drive, Fairmount Heights, Maryland, as a suspect during the course of their investigation. He was arrested today and charged with second degree murder. Sumby was remanded to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections on a no bond status.

On January 13, 2012, at approximately 8:29 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 1400 block of Doewood Lane for a report of a body. Upon arrival, patrol officers found 31-year-old Perry Earl Hunt, of the 5100 block of Sly Fox Court, Upper Marlboro, behind an apartment complex trash receptacle unresponsive. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The investigation revealed Sumby and Hunt were known acquaintances and that Hunt was stabbed during an altercation with Sumby at another location.

Police Make Arrest in Fatal Shooting in Landover

     The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has arrested 21 year-old Thomas Everett Chester III in connection with the murder of Brian Keith Tann which occurred in Landover, Maryland.

     The investigation revealed the incident stemmed from a dispute between Chester and Tann, who were known acquaintances. On January 13, 2012, homicide detectives obtained a first degree murder warrant for Chester, who turned himself in without incident earlier today. Chester has been remanded to the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections on a no bond status.

     On January 12, 2012, at approximately 10:24 p.m., patrol officers responded to the 7700 block of Bender Road for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, patrol officers found Brian Keith Tann, 43, of the 7700 block of Bender Road, lying inside the residence suffering from trauma to his body. Tann was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police Investigate Homicide on Doewood Lane

Prince George’s County, Maryland… The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating a homicide that occurred in Capitol Heights, Maryland.

Police Charge Suspect in Temple Hills Home Invasion/Sexual Assault

Prince George’s County, Maryland… The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit (SAU) has charged 33 year-old Kevin Darnell Ray in connection with the home invasion and sexual assault that occurred in Temple Hills, Maryland. 

Ray, a registered sex offender, of the 12400 block of Gable Lane, Fort Washington, Maryland, was developed as a suspect by the Montgomery County Police Department during the course of their investigations into two similar assaults.  Working closely with detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department, SAU detectives were able to identify Ray as the suspect in the Temple Hills assault.  An arrest warrant was obtained for Ray charging him with first degree rape, first degree assault, armed carjacking, first degree burglary, firearm use in a felony, reckless endangerment, theft, and several other charges.  Ray was captured in North Carolina early this morning by Montgomery County Police detectives assigned to a U.S. Marshals Task Force, and assisted by local North Carolina police, on a Montgomery County Police warrant.  Ray is being held in North Carolina awaiting extradition.

On January 13, 2012, at approximately 8:50 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 2500 block of Berkley Street for a report of a sexual assault.  Upon arrival, patrol officers learned that the suspect had followed the victim into her house after she had gone out to warm up her car.  The suspect then produced a handgun, tied up the occupants of the home, took the victim into a separate room, and sexually assaulted her.  After removing several items from the home the suspect then took the victim’s vehicle and fled the scene.  The victim’s vehicle was located a short time later in Temple Hills.
