PGPD Investigating Murder in Cottage City Detectives to Canvass Surrounding Neighborhoods Today

The Prince George's County Police Department's Homicide Unit is investigating a murder in Cottage City. The victim is 20-year-old Everett Robert Brown of Cottage Terrace in Brentwood. An up to $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.    

On August 30, 2014, at about 6:45 am, Maryland-National Capital Park Police officers were called to the Anacostia River Trail for the report of an unconscious man. When they arrived, they found Brown suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify the suspect(s) in this case. They will canvass neighborhoods near the trail this afternoon at 1:00 pm seeking additional information. The canvass will begin in the 4100 block of Cottage Terrace.

PGPD Arrests Suspect in Murder of Jacinto Perez

The Prince George's County Police Department arrested a suspect in the murder of 28-year-old Jacinto Perez in Laurel. The suspect is 32-year-old Santos Leonel Mejia-Yanes of Finsbury Court in Laurel. Detectives also obtained a warrant for a second suspect. He's 34-year-old Bayron Cruz-Vargas also of Finsbury Court.  

On August 24, 2014, at approximately 9:20 am, patrol officers were called to the 8800 block of Enfield Court for a body found in a bag. Once on scene, officers discovered a second bag with body parts in it. Perez was later identified as the victim.

The suspects and victim were roommates. The preliminary investigation reveals the three men got into an argument inside their apartment that turned violent and ultimately escalated to the murder.

Mejia-Yanes is charged with first and second degree murder. He's in custody at the Department of Corrections on a no bond status. He has admitted his involvement. Cruz-Vargas is charged with first degree murder as well as first degree assault and other charges.

Media Advisory: PGPD Arrests Suspect in Murder of Jacinto Perez

PGPD Searches for Missing Woman

Update: The missing woman has been located, and returned home in good health.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in searching for a missing woman. She is identified as 81-year-old Thelma Geathers Ellington. She was last seen in the area of Coventry Way and Old Branch Avenue in Clinton. Ellington may be in need of medication.

Ellington is described as an African American female, 5’4”, 120 pounds, with brown eyes and grey hair. She was last seen wearing a light blue shirt, dark blue pants and a beige baseball cap with the writing of “Embassy” on the front.

She was last seen driving a 2005 metallic green Chrysler Town and Country minivan bearing a Maryland registration of 00646CB similar to the vehicle pictured below.

Armed Robbery Suspects

Our detectives are working to identify and find these two brazen suspects. They robbed a food mart on 34th Street in Mount Rainier on July 30, 2014. Our investigation reveals the two walked into the store, one of the men pulled out a weapon and demanded cash. The employee complied. The suspects grabbed items from store shelves before finally leaving the business. If you know how we can find these two suspects, please call 301-772-4905. Burglary Suspect

Armed Robbery Suspect

This suspect wore a suit and a hat to rob a business on Old Branch Avenue in Clinton. He walked into the business on August 21, 2014, and approached an employee. He displayed a gun and demanded cash. Convenience Store Robbery


Robbery detectives are also investigating an armed robbery at a convenience store on Livingston Road in Fort Washington. This happened on August 27, 2014, at about 2:30 am. We’re looking for two suspects who wore masks. They displayed a gun and demanded cash. Have info? Please call 301-772-4905.



Fast Food Restaurant Robbery


These two suspects robbed a fast food restaurant on Donnell Drive in Forestville on August 23, 2014. They each had a gun and demanded cash from the employees. PGPD Makes Quick Arrest in Oxon Hill Murder

The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested a suspect today in connection with Saturday’s murder in Oxon Hill. The suspect is 36-year-old Antjuon Riddick of the 500 block of Wilson Bridge Drive in Oxon Hill.

On August 23, 2014, at about 11:50 pm, patrol officers were called to the 5000 block of Glassmanor Drive for a shooting. Once on scene, officers discovered 36-year-old Kenneth Antoine Jones suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Jones was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives believe the shooting stemmed from an argument between the two men. The investigation reveals Riddick showed up uninvited to a party the victim was attending on Glassmanor Drive.

Riddick is charged with first-degree murder and remains in custody with the Department of Corrections.

PGPD Investigates Murder in Laurel


The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a murder in Laurel.  

On August 24, 2014, at approximately 9:20 am, patrol officers were called to the 8800 block of Enfield Court for a body found in a bag. Once on scene officers discovered a second bag with body parts in it. Detectives believe the victim to be an adult male.

On Sunday afternoon, detectives, along with a cadaver dog, began combing through the apartment complex searching for additional evidence.  In addition, the department's current academy class will conduct a late afternoon grid search of the scene. 

Detectives are working to determine a motive and a suspect(s) in this case.

PGPD Investigates Murder in Oxon Hill

Updated August 24, 2014:  Homicide detectives have identified and charged a suspect in connection with last night’s murder. He's 36-year-old Antjuon Riddick of the 500 block of Wilson Bridge Drive in Oxon Hill. He's charged with first-degree murder. On August 23, 2014, at approximately 11:50 pm, patrol officers were called to the 5000 block of Glassmanor Drive for a shooting. Once on scene, officers discovered a man suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

The victim is identified as 36-year-old Kenneth Antoine Jones of the 2700 block of Wade Road in Southeast, Washington, DC.

PGPD Suspends Rookie Patrol Officer Charged with Assault

Probationary Officer Shakeya Walker has been suspended from the Prince George's County Police Department after she was charged Friday with second degree assault. The August 18 assault stemmed from a domestic situation while Walker was off duty. The victim declined medical attention.

 Walker has been with the department for eight weeks. She is assigned to the Bureau of Patrol, District VI. Her police powers have been suspended. The Special Investigation Response Team is leading the investigation. Disciplinary action regarding this matter could result in termination.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in searching for a missing woman. She is identified as 19-year-old Monique Robinson. She was last seen in the 4500 block of Akron Street in Temple Hills. Robinson has been diagnosed with mental health issues and may be in need of medication.

Robinson is described as a black female, 5’6”, 110 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.  She was last seen wearing pajamas.

PGPD Investigates Single Vehicle Collision in Temple Hills

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a single vehicle collision that occurred earlier this morning in Temple Hills.

On August 22, 2014, at approximately 12:17 am, patrol officers responded to the 4400 block of Branch Avenue for a report of a vehicle collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling southbound on Branch Avenue when for reasons unknown, the driver lost control and rolled the vehicle before coming to rest in the roadway.

The driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries

Preliminarily, alcohol as a factor is not suspected and speed as a factor is unknown.
