PGPD Investigating Pedestrian Collision in Lanham

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating the circumstances of a pedestrian collision in Lanham on Friday. The victim remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

On September 30, 2022, at approximately 10:40 am, Prince George’s County Police patrol officers were flagged down and alerted to a collision in a shopping center parking lot in the 10500 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Highway. The officers were advised that the driver of an SUV had just struck a man who was walking in the parking lot. PGPD officers immediately began to provide first aid to the victim who was identified as an off-duty DC Police Officer.

The striking driver did not initially stay on the scene. The description of the involved SUV was immediately broadcast to all officers in the area. Within a few minutes, an SUV matching that description was observed in the same parking lot driving toward the collision location. Officers stopped the driver who is cooperating with investigators.

As with all investigations into critical injury collisions, at the conclusion of its investigation, the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit will consult with the State’s Attorney’s Office regarding potential charges in the case. Collision investigations can take weeks to months to complete.

Detectives Charge Suspect in Fatal Stabbing in Adelphi

Homicide Unit detectives charged a suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred Wednesday afternoon in Adelphi. The suspect is 25-year-old Joshua Deva of no fixed addressed. He is charged with fatally stabbing 59-year-old Randolph Crawford of no fixed address.    

On September 28, 2022, at approximately 3:10 pm, patrol officers were called to the 2300 block of University Boulevard for a report of a stabbing. Once on scene, they discovered the victim suffering from a stab wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene. 

 

The preliminary investigation revealed that Deva stabbed Crawford after the two were involved in a physical altercation. Deva is charged with first-degree murder and other related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

PGPD Announces Graduation of Academy Session 147

 

       

The Prince George’s County Police Department is proud to announce the graduation of 37 recruits from the Prince George’s County Police Department’s 
Police Training Academy on Wednesday. 

 

Of the 37 graduates, 26 will join us here at the Prince George’s County Police Department. In addition, seven will be joining the Prince Georges County Office of the Sheriff, two will be headed to the City of Bowie Police Department, one is headed to the New Carrollton Police Department and the remaining one will be joining Capitol Heights Police Department.

 

We look forward to celebrating Session 147’s accomplishments.

Suspect in Custody in Connection With June Homicide in Clinton

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting in June. The suspect is 24-year-old Travon Marquis Ingram of Washington, DC. He’s charged with the murder of 29-year-old Deangelo Deonte Johnson of Clinton. 

 

On June 19, 2022, at approximately 9:05 pm, patrol officers were called to the 8200 block of Bellefonte Lane for a report of a shooting. Once on scene, they discovered Johnson outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.  

 

The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect and victim knew each other. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

 

Ingram is charged with second degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of Department of Corrections on a no-bond status. Multiple tips into Prince George’s County Crime Solvers assisted with the closure of this case.

PGPD Obtains Arrest Warrant for Student in Possession of Gun at School

The Prince George’s County Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for a student at Surrattsville High School in Clinton for being in possession of a gun on school grounds. The student is a 17-year-old male. He is charged as an adult. 

On September 26, 2022, at approximately 1:30 pm, Prince George’s County Public Schools security personnel stopped the student on the suspicion of having illegal drugs at school. Security personnel searched the student’s backpack and located a loaded ghost gun (un-serialized). During the search, the student fled school property.


The PGPD has obtained an arrest warrant for the student. He is charged with multiple charges to include possessing a loaded handgun on person, handgun on person, possession of a dangerous weapon on school property and multiple drug-related charges.

Three Juveniles Arrested for Committing Armed Carjacking in Oxon Hill

 Prince George’s County Police Division IV – Oxon Hill Station patrol officers arrested three juveniles for an armed carjacking on Sunday. The suspects are a 17-year-old male from Oxon Hill, a 17-year-old male from Washington, DC, and a 16-year-old male from Oxon Hill. All three are charged as adults.

 

On September 25, 2022, at approximately 6:55 pm, officers responded to the report of an armed carjacking in the 6700 block of Livingston Road. Two victims advised officers they had just been carjacked at gunpoint. The suspects fled in the victims’ black Honda Civic. Approximately five minutes later, a second 911 call led patrol officers to the 6500 block of Livingston Road where officers observed the carjacked Honda and multiple males who matched the descriptions of the carjacking suspects. The males began to run away but officers, with the assistance of the Aviation Section, quickly arrested the three suspects. A loaded ghost gun (un-serialized) was recovered from one of the suspects. The keys to the carjacked car were also recovered.



The suspects are each charged with armed carjacking. One of the 17-year-old suspects is also charged for possessing the handgun. They are in the custody of the Department of Corrections.

PGPD Investigates Fatal Shooting in Suitland

Detectives with the Homicide Unit are investigating a fatal shooting in Suitland Sunday afternoon. The victim is 26-year-old Michael Morgan of Suitland. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. 

On September 25, 2022, at approximately 12:00 pm, patrol officers were called to the 4600 block of Silver Hill Road for a shooting. The officers discovered Morgan on a sidewalk in front of a business suffering from gunshot wounds. He taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

 Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and a motive.

Grand Jury Indicts Suspended PGPD Officer on Theft & Misconduct in Office Charges

 A Prince George’s County grand jury indicted an officer on charges of theft and misconduct in office. The involved officer is Corporal Travis Fowble. 

The officer is accused of conducting unauthorized activities while on-duty dating back to 2018.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Internal Affairs Division brought this case to the State’s Attorney’s Office for consideration of criminal charges.

Corporal Fowble joined the agency in 1998 and was most recently assigned to the Bureau of Investigation and Forensic Science. Following the indictment, he is suspended without pay. His police powers were initially suspended in February 2022.

Detectives Identify and Arrest Suspect in 2021 Homicide in Chillum

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit arrested a suspect in connection to a fatal shooting in November 2021. The suspect is 27-year-old Beran Samuels of Chillum. He is charged with the murder of 31-year-old Oshane Davis of Greenbelt.   

On November 3, 2021, officers responded to the 1300 block of Chillum Road for a reported shooting. Once on scene, officers located Davis at a business suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.  

The preliminary investigation revealed Davis had been shot at an apartment building in the 5700 block of 16th Avenue in Chillum and drove himself to the business to seek help. 

Samuels is charged with first degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

PGPD Working With US Marshals to Locate and Arrest Hyattsville Murder Suspect; Combined Reward of Up to $40,000 Available

The Prince George’s County Police Department is working closely with the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force to locate and arrest the suspect wanted in a fatal shooting at a mall in the city of Hyattsville last month. The suspect is 33-year-old Stephon Edward Jones of Washington, DC. He’s charged with the murder of 20-year-old Darrion Herring of Hyattsville.


On August 18, 2022, officers with the City of Hyattsville Police Department and the Prince George’s County Police Department responded to the 3500 block of East-West Highway for a shooting. Herring was discovered in the food court at the mall suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene. The preliminary investigation revealed Jones shot and killed Herring during a verbal dispute.

 

Prince George’s County Crime Solvers is offering up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. The U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) is offering up to $15,000 for any information that leads to his arrest. The total combined reward is now up to $40,000.

“Stephon Jones should be considered armed and dangerous and will be apprehended hopefully before he harms anyone else. Our Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force is actively working to arrest Jones for this murder.” said Johnny Hughes, U.S. Marshal, District of Maryland.

“We are grateful for the partnership with CARFTF in our joint effort to arrest Jones. Together, we hope to be able to soon tell the victim’s family that Jones is in custody,” said Deputy Chief Felipe Ordono, PGPD Bureau of Investigation and Forensic Sciences.

Since the murder, Jones may have changed his hair style.

Suspect in Landover Homicide in Custody

The suspect wanted for a recent homicide in Landover is in custody. The suspect is 23-year-old Christopher Allen Brown, Jr., of San Francisco, California. He is charged in connection with the murder of 44-year-old Dameon Broadus of Landover

On August 25, 2022, at approximately 3:40 pm, patrol officers were called to the 3200 block of 75th Avenue for a welfare check. Officers discovered Broadus in his apartment suffering from trauma to the body. He was pronounced dead on the scene. An autopsy determined the cause of death was sharp force trauma and the manner a homicide.

The preliminary investigation revealed Brown and Broadus were known to each other. A motive for the killing remains under investigation.

Following the murder, Brown fled the region. With the assistance of the San Francisco Police Department as well as the U.S. Marshals Service, Brown was taken into custody in San Francisco on Tuesday. He remains in custody there pending extradition to Prince George’s County. He is charged with first degree murder and related charges.
