The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and charged a suspect wanted for a recent murder in Fort Washington. The suspect is 45-year-old Monte Brown Jr. of Washington, DC. He’s charged in connection with the murder of 19-year-old David Frye of Washington, DC.

On May 15, 2024, at approximately 6:40 am, Maryland-National Capital Park Police and PGPD officers responded to a park in the 11900 block of Autumnwood Lane for a report of an unconscious man. When they arrived on the scene, officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Brown as the suspect. The Fugitive Unit located and took him into custody on Thursday. The victim and suspect were known to each other. The motive for the fatal shooting remains under investigation.  

Brown is charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

PGPD Investigating Fatal Shooting in Landover

Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Thursday night in Landover. The victim is 40-year-old Anthony Dickens of Upper Marlboro. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On May 30, 2024, at approximately 11:10 pm, officers responded to the 6800 block of Hawthorne Street for a shooting. The victim was located outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives are working to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s).

At the time of the shooting, detectives identified the suspect and obtained a warrant charging Robertson with attempted first degree murder and related charges. On May 11, 2024, the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Fugitive Unit located and arrested Robertson in Clinton. She was transported the Department of Corrections where she remains in custody. Gun Crimes Unit detectives have amended the charges against her to first degree murder and related charges.  

The preliminary investigation revealed Robertson shot the victim during a dispute.

Grand Jury Indicts Suspended Patrol Officer

A Prince George’s County grand jury today indicted a suspended patrol officer on one count of misconduct in office. The officer is Corporal Dexter Shin.

On March 3, 2024, the officer struck a pedestrian with his cruiser in Laurel. The indictment stems from the officer’s failure to report the collision and failure to ensure the pedestrian received proper medical care. When the department was alerted to the incident, the officer was suspended and the Internal Affairs Division immediately opened an investigation.
