Two Suspects in Custody For Sunday’s Homicide in Fort Washington

Homicide Unit detectives charged two suspects in connection with a fatal shooting in Fort Washington on Sunday. The suspects are 25-year-old Irving Silva of the 1700 block of Euclid Street in Northwest Washington and 17-year-old Jelani Edwards of the 4300 block of 40th Street in Brentwood. Edwards is charged as an adult in this case.

On July 29th, at approximately 7:30 pm, patrol officers responded to the 7200 block of Shockley Court for the report of a shooting. Once on scene, they discovered the victim, 22-year-old Giovanni Little of Shockley Court, outside suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Within minutes of the shooting, responding patrol officers located the suspects not far from the scene and took them into custody.

The preliminary investigation reveals the suspects robbed the victim prior to the fatal shooting. The suspects and victim were acquaintances. Both Silva and Edwards are charged with first and second-degree murder and related charges. They are in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

Detectives Arrest Two Suspects in Oxon Hill Homicide

Homicide Unit detectives identified and charged two suspects in connection with a fatal shooting in Oxon Hill in May. The suspects are 21-year-old Kyree Demarco Williams of the 2000 block of Ewing Avenue in Oxon Hill and 22-year-old Marcus Heckstall of the 1900 block of Rochelle Avenue in District Heights.

On May 20th, at approximately 7:25 pm, patrol officers responded to the 5600 block of Saint Barnabas Road for the report of a shooting. Once on scene, they discovered the victim, 28-year-old Rodney Snowden, outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He died later at a hospital. A second shooting victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.


On May 23rd, Homicide Unit detectives released video of the fatal shooting in an attempt to gather information in the investigation. Thanks to that video release, investigators did learn information critical to the case.

The preliminary investigation reveals the fatal shooting stemmed from a dispute between Williams and the victim. They were acquaintances. Both Williams and Heckstall are charged with first and second degree murder and related charges. They are in custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

Suspended PGPD Captain Charged with Assault


On Thursday, July 19th, Maryland State Police arrested Prince George's County Police Captain Thomas Hart who has been suspended from our agency for more than three months.  Hart, a 22-year veteran of the department assigned to the Bureau of Patrol, is charged with 1 count of felony assault and 1 count of misdemeanor assault stemming from a dispute yesterday with another individual who is known to Hart.    

Captain Hart, 52 years old, was suspended without pay back in April stemming from a criminal investigation in an unrelated matter. 

Our Internal Affairs Division is investigating. 

We cannot offer further comment at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

Missing Man Found

UPDATE: On Friday, July 20th Mr. Colbert has been located.





The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in searching for a missing person. He is identified as 71-year-old Thomas Colbert.

Colbert was last seen in 7500 block of Catone Court in Oxon Hill on July 17th at 4:00 pm.

Colbert is described as an African American male, 6’3”, and 240 pounds. He was last seen wearing eyeglasses and unknown clothing. 

Colbert was seen driving a black 2016 Chrysler Town & Country minivan with Maryland tags 2DA2283.

We’re starting this edition of Wanted Wednesday with our active search for two suspects who robbed a liquor store. On July 16th, at approximately 11:05 pm, suspects targeted a store in the 9800 block of Mallard Drive in Laurel. Attempted Bank Robbery

Next, we’re looking for a suspect who attempted an armed robbery on July 14th at approximately 9:50 am. The suspect implied he had a weapon and passed a note demanding cash. Strong Arm Robbery

Please take a look at this photo.  This is a suspect who robbed a victim in the 4700 block of Soper Road in Suitland on July 16th at approximately 11:50 pm. The suspect approached the victim, punched him several times, and stole cash. PGPD to Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint


The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Special Operations Division will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint this  Friday, July 20, 2018, from 9:00 pm to 2:00 am. Officers will be focusing on the southern portion of the county. This is one of many checkpoints that will be conducted throughout the year.

Please never drive under the influence. The consequences are not worth the risk.

Fatal Shooting of 17 year old Teenager; Suspect Arrested

Homicide Unit detectives identified and charged a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting in Landover on Saturday. The suspect is 26-year-old Davion Ballinger of the unit block of O street in Northwest Washington.

On July 14th, at approximately 12:10 am, patrol officers responded to the 2400 block of Kent Village Drive for a shooting. Once on scene, they learned the victim, 17 year old Amer Miller of Hawthorne Street, suffering from gunshot wounds had been driven to a hospital by a passerby where he later died.

The preliminary investigation reveals the shooting occurred after Ballinger robbed Miller.  Detectives were able to arrest Ballinger hours after the shooting.  He is charged with first and second- degree murder and other related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

PGPD Investigates Fatal Collision in Glenarden


The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash in Glenarden. The victim is 23-year-old Devin Hodges of Rosalie Lane in Riverdale.

On July 14th, at approximately 8:55 pm, patrol officers responded to the 8600 block of Glenarden Parkway for a collision involving a single car.

The preliminary investigation reveals the car was heading northbound on Glenarden Parkway, when for reasons which remain under investigation, it left the roadway, struck the curb, and flipped over. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. There were no passengers in the car.

Missing Woman Found

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in searching for a missing person. She is identified as 52-year-old Sharon Reeves-Williams. 

Reeves-Williams was last seen earlier in July in the 6700 block of 94thAvenue in Lanham. Reeves-Williams is described as a black female, 5’4”, and 160 pounds. Reeves-Williams was last seen wearing a black scarf on her head, blue jeans and white shoes.

Bank Robbery Suspect

We are starting Wanted Wednesday this week with our active search for this pictured bank robbery suspect. On Tuesday, June 10th, at approximately 1:35 pm, he walked into a bank in the 6200 block of Annapolis Road in Landover Hills. He approached a teller and made a demand for money. Once he had cash, he ran from the bank. Anyone with information on his identity is urged to call us. We are offering a cash reward. Please call either 301-772-4905 or 1-866-411-TIPS.


Robbery Suspects




Detectives are also working to identify and arrest these five suspects in connection with a robbery earlier this month. The investigation reveals the five men approached a victim at a gas station and demanded money. This happened on July 2nd on North Cove Terrace in Oxon Hill. One of the suspects struck the victim in the face causing minor injuries. The victim’s cell phone was ultimately stolen. Carjacking Suspect




This suspect is wanted for a carjacking in Temple Hills on Tuesday. It took place at approximately 12:30 pm in the 4000 block of Branch Avenue. The investigation reveals the suspect approached the victim who was in his car, struck him in the face and demanded his vehicle. The suspect fled in the victim’s car toward Southern Avenue. Homicide Investigation


It was one year ago this week that someone shot and killed a man in Chillum. The victim is 37-year-old Anthony Russell of Alice Avenue in Oxon Hill. Detectives continue to search for those responsible and are asking for the community’s assistance.  On July 8th, 2017, at about 5:15 am, patrol officers responded to the 5700 block of Cypress Creek Drive for a shooting. The officers discovered the victim outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Grand Jury Indicts Suspect in Connection With Fatal Assault in City of Bowie

A grand jury indicted a man in connection with a fatal assault in the City of Bowie in June. The suspect is 31-year-old Thomas Hughes of the 6000 block of Dansel Court in Bowie. He’s charged with murder in connection with the death of 21-year-old Nicholas Keys of Pointer Ridge Drive in Bowie.

On June 4, 2018, at approximately 5:40 pm, officers with the City of Bowie Police Department responded to the report of an assault in a shopping center parking lot in the 15000 block of Excelsior Drive. The investigation reveals the suspect and victim got into a dispute over a damaged car door in the parking lot. Detectives learned the suspect attacked the victim with a baseball bat. The Bowie Police Department arrested Hughes who was initially charged with assault.

The victim died three days after the assault. An autopsy determined the cause of death was head injuries with complications along with multiple facial fractures. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

A grand jury indicted Hughes with murder. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

The Prince George’s County Police Department investigates all homicides that fall within the City of Bowie.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in searching for a missing person. He is identified as 55-year-old Vernon Armstrong. 

Armstrong was last seen on July 9th, at about 3:00 pm in the 4900 block of La Salle Road in Hyattsville. Armstrong is described as a black male, 5’8”, and 162 pounds. Armstrong was last seen wearing a blue shirt, tan shorts.

Detectives Release Images of Items Stolen from Homicide Victim & Shoes Worn by Suspect




Homicide Unit detectives are asking for the community’s assistance as they continue to actively investigate the recent fatal shooting of a teen in Bladensburg. The victim is 17-year-old Bryan Alvarado-Esquivel of Georgia Avenue in Northwest Washington. He was shot and killed on June 18th. The suspect stole several of Bryan’s personal items following the shooting – including the above pictured Gucci belt and watch. A necklace was also taken.

This fatal shooting occurred on June 18th at approximately 1:55 pm. Maryland-National Capital Park Police as well as PGPD officers responded to a park in the 5300 block of Varnum Street for the report of a shooting. The victim was discovered outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. 




The suspect was seen running from the area wearing this type of distinctive blue tennis shoes. He was also wearing light blue jeans and a black tank top. The suspect is described as an African American male, approximately 20 years old, about 5’2” with shoulder-length dreadlocks or braids.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

Detectives Investigate Homicide in Langley Park

Detectives with our Homicide Unit are conducting an investigation into the fatal shooting of a man Wednesday morning in Langley Park. The victim is 28-year-old Felipe Gonzalez-Len of 14th Avenue in Langley Park. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. 

On July 4th, at approximately 3:00 am, patrol officers were called to the 8300 block of 14th Avenue for a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Gonzalez-Len outside suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and a motive.

Robbery Investigation

Robbery Unit detectives are working to identify and arrest the suspect who targeted a pharmacy on Silver Hill Road in District Heights. The pictured suspect – who wore a wig while committing the robbery – jumped the counter, assaulted an employee and stole cash. This happened on June 28th at approximately 6:30 pm. Theft From Auto

Investigators are also working to make an arrest in a theft from a vehicle in Clinton. Someone broke into the victim’s vehicle on Branch Avenue on June 27th. The preliminary investigation reveals that a short time after the theft, the two pictured suspects were captured on surveillance video trying to use a credit card stolen in the theft at a nearby convenience store. PGPD Investigating Fatal Collision in Clinton



The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a motorcycle in Clinton. The victim is 27-year-old Marcus Smith of Piscataway Landing Drive in Clinton.

On June 30th, at approximately 1:40 pm, officers responded to the 10300 block of Piscataway Road for the report of a collision. The victim was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The preliminary investigation reveals Smith, who was operating a motorcycle, was heading eastbound on Piscataway Road. The driver of a Ford van was heading westbound and attempted to make a left turn into a driveway. The motorcycle and van collided as the van was making the turn. The van’s driver suffered minor injuries.
