PGPD Arrests Suspect for September Murder

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit identified and charged a suspect in connection with a murder that occurred in the unincorporated section of Bowie. The suspect is a 16-year-old male from Mitchellville. He’s charged with the murder of 58-year-old Coleman Williams of Landover. The suspect is charged as an adult.

On September 23, 2025, at approximately 1:55 pm, officers responded to the 10800 block of Lake Arbor Way for the report of a deceased man. Once on scene, officers located Williams unresponsive in a wooded area. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner noted multiple injuries to the victim’s body and is working to determine the official cause of death.  

Through various investigative techniques, detectives identified the teenager as the suspect. He was taken into custody on October 2, 2025. The preliminary investigation revealed the murder stemmed from a dispute between the suspect and victim. At this time, there is no known connection between them.

The suspect is charged with second-degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.

Missing Woman Found

 Update: September 30, 2025. Brenda Thomas was located safely.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in finding a missing woman. She is identified as 72-year-old Brenda Thomas. She was last seen in the 9300 block of Cherry Hill Rd in College Park on September 29, 2025, at approximately 1:00 pm.

Ms.Thomas is a Black female, 4'11" tall, 98 pounds and has burgundy braids. She was last seen wearing a white and grey shirt and blue jeans.

Death Investigation in Fort Washington Ruled Homicide

Prince George’s County Police Department Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a homicide after human remains were located at a park in Fort Washington in July. Extensive efforts are underway to identify the victim. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
 
On July 23, 2025, while assisting Montgomery County Police with a missing persons investigation, what appeared to be possible human remains were located during a search of Piscataway Stream Valley Park. The remains were sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME). The OCME has now ruled the case a homicide.
 
Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and a motive.

PGPD Charges Driver With Assault at Illegal Car Takeover

 The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homeland Security – Intelligence Division identified and charged a driver for assaulting and seriously injuring a woman at a recent illegal car meet up in Landover. The suspect is 18-year-old Naef Salmo of Millersville.

 

The preliminary investigation reveals on September 14, 2025, at approximately 1:45 am, the illegal vehicle takeover was held at a shopping center parking lot in the 8500 block of Landover Road in the Landover area. Vehicle takeovers are large, unauthorized gatherings where participants often engage in reckless and illegal activities such as street racing, stunts and other disruptive activities. Investigators learned that during this illegal takeover, while doing circles in his car, the suspect struck a spectator. He then fled the scene. The victim was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. She has since been released.

 

Using various investigative techniques, detectives identified and located both the striking vehicle and the driver, Naef Salmo. The investigation revealed after the hit-and-run, Salmo sprayed painted his vehicle a different color to conceal evidence and hinder detectives. Investigators also recovered a handgun under the hood of the car.

In consultation with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office, Salmo is charged with a long list of charges to include second degree assault, reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct, riot and obstructing and hindering a police officer. Additional charges are pending. Salmo has admitted to his responsibility for the hit-and-run.

 

“We know these illegal vehicle takeovers may seem harmless to some, but the fact is, they can be dangerous. In this case, a young woman suffered serious injuries. We’ve also investigated a fatal shooting at a car takeover in recent years,” said Chief George Nader.
