PGPD Investigates Fatal Collision in Landover

The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Landover. The victim killed in the collision was just 9-weeks old. Her family has asked us not to release her name.

On March 2nd, around 9:35 pm, patrol officers were called to the 9200 block of Landover Road for a crash involving two cars. The infant was taken to a hospital with injuries. She died on March 4th. The driver of the car carrying the baby suffered what preliminarily appear to be non-life-threatening injuries and has been released from the hospital. The second car had three occupants. The driver declined to be transported to the hospital. The two passengers suffered what also appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation reveals the car carrying the victim was traveling on Landover Road and was attempting to turn onto I-495. As that car was turning, it was struck by the second car which was traveling in the opposite direction on Landover Road. The victim was in a child safety seat at the time of the collision. The driver of the second car remained on the scene.
