Detectives with our Homicide Unit are
conducting an investigation into the fatal shooting of a man Wednesday in
Capitol Heights. The victim is 26-year-old Regis Payne of
Montana Avenue NE in Washington D.C. A
reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest
and indictment in this case. Tipsters will never have to give their name.
On January 9th, at approximately 8:20 am, patrol
officers were called to the 5900 block of Baltic Avenue for a report of an
injured person. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Payne unresponsive in
the roadway. He had been shot and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Detectives are working to identify a
suspect(s) and a motive in this case.
