The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating
a double homicide in Cheverly. The victims are 26-year-old Tareeka Jones of
Landover Road in Cheverly and 22-year-old Jalisa Walls-Harris of Booth Bay Way
in Bowie. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random act.
On March 7, 2016, at about 10:30 pm, patrol officers with the
Cheverly Police Department and the Prince George’s County Police Department
were called to the 6500 block of Landover Road for the report of a shooting.
When they arrived, the officers found the two victims inside of an apartment
suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were pronounced dead on the scene.
The preliminary investigation reveals a suspect shot both
women and then fled the apartment.
