Homicide
Unit detectives have taken over an investigation into a now fatal shooting in
Capitol Heights. The victim was shot on Saturday, July 29th, and
passed away on Thursday. He’s 29-year-old Kevin Hawkins of Harrods Way in
Landover. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to
an arrest and indictment in this case. Tipsters will never have to give their
name.
On
July 29th, at about 11:30 am, patrol officers were called to the
1400 block of Pine Grove Road for a welfare check. The officers found the
victim lying on the side of the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound. He was
rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He died of his injuries on August
3rd.
Detectives
are actively working to identify a suspect(s) and motive in this case.
