Assault Victim Dies of Injuries; Death Ruled a Homicide

Detectives with our Homicide Unit are leading the investigation into a now fatal assault that occurred recently in Langley Park. The victim is 37-year-old Olivio Vail of no fixed address. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.

On March 27, 2022, at 8:00 pm, patrol officers were called to the 7900 block of 14^th Avenue in Langley Park for a report of an assault. They discovered Vail outside of an apartment building unresponsive suffering from trauma. He died of his injuries on March 30, 2022. An autopsy determined the cause of death as blunt force trauma and the manner was ruled a homicide.

Detectives are working to identify a suspect(s) and determine a motive.
