Detectives Obtain Arrest Warrant for Suspect in Domestic-Related Homicide in Clinton

Updated September 30, 2021: James Kirkland was located deceased on the night of September 29, 2021, on Hackberry Court in Clinton. The Homicide Unit is investigating his death as a suicide. Preliminarily, it’s believed he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death.

Prince George’s County Police Homicide Unit detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the man wanted in connection with a domestic-related homicide in Clinton. He’s identified as 25-year-old James Darnell Kirkland of the 10900 block of Hackberry Court in Clinton. He’s charged with fatally shooting his girlfriend, 24-year-old Moyonna Tillman of Clinton.

On September 24, 2021, at approximately 11:35 pm, patrol officers responded to the 10900 block of Hackberry Court for the report of a shooting. Once on scene, officers located the victim in the front yard of a home suffering from gunshot wounds. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced deceased.  

Detectives are working to establish a motive in the case.

Detectives Obtienen Orden de Arresto Contra Sospechoso de Asesinato por Violencia Doméstica en Clinton

Detectives de la Unidad de Homicidios de la Policía del Condado de Prince George’s obtuvieron una orden de arresto para la captura de un individuo a quien buscan en conexión a un asesinato producto de violencia doméstica ocurrido en Clinton. Este ha sido identificado como James Darnell Kirkland, de 25 años y vecino de la cuadra 10900 de Hackberry Court en Clinton. A este se le imputa haber asesinado a tiros a su novia, Moyonna Tillman, de 24 años de edad y vecina de Clinton.

El 24 de septiembre de 2021, a eso de las 11:35 pm, oficiales de patrulla acudieron a la cuadra 10900 de Hackberry Court tras recibir información sobre un tiroteo. Al llegar a la escena, los oficiales hallaron a la víctima en el área de la grama frente a una residencia, con múltiples heridas de bala. A esta le trasladaron a un hospital en donde le declararon muerta.
